Your guide will meet you at the ERACHIDIA AIRPORT holding a sign with your name on it. In a 4x4 we cross the Ziz Valley, visiting a stunning oasis there. Our scenic route takes us past picturesque rivers and palm plantations. This is the Morocco of postcards and your imagination. We visit the caves and the popular fossil factories of Erfoud, located behind the Atlas Mountains, at the edge of the Sahara Desert. At several sites east of Erfoud, trenches are dug to get to the fossiliferous layers for the fossil trade. All manner of products from small soap bowls to large dining tables are then crafted by master craftsmen. Lunch will be in a typical Moroccan restaurant, before we cross the Paris Dakar Rally Road to reach the edge of the desert. We will stop along the way for photo opportunities, and we will have the possibility to see how a Berber family lives in the desert, in a traditional nomadic tent, before we travel to our SAHARA LUXURY CAMP. Our warm, friendly staff will welcome you with dinner and an overnight stay in one of our luxurious tents: all with private ensuites. Our camp is powered by solar energy, so you will be able to freshen up with a super hot shower before dinner.
After an early breakfast of delicious Moroccan pancakes, fresh fruits and other delicious nourishments, we will take a 4x4 to explore the Merzouga area, visiting the village of Khamlia. This black village was once a place for trading black slaves. After that we will cross the black desert, a flat desert with black volcanic stones, looking very much like an alien planet. Then, we will stop for a picnic lunch, before heading back to the camp. We will have a well-deserved rest before taking a camel safari to the top of the dunes to watch and photograph a perfect sunset. Dinner, and an overnight nomadic drum party will take place around our camp fire. Star gazing before sleep.
Today, we encourage you to wake early to see the sun rising from behind the dunes. Perhaps some yoga or meditation in the dunes before another glorious, adventurous day in the desert! In our far sight is the border of Algeria. Depending on your departure time, there would be the possibility to do a quad biking tour along the edge of the desert following the route of caravans that passed by this way delivering goods to the villages. Then, a transfer to the ERACHIDIA AIRPORT 2 hours before your flight.
