  • Day 1

You will be collected from your accommodation or the airport for the drive through Ouarzazate to Kalaat M’Gouna. The Roses Festival takes place in Kalaat M'Gouna every year in May. It lasts 7 days to celebrate the season of roses in Dadès and M'Goun. During the festival, thousands of visitors come to Kalaat M’Gouna to discover its beauty, and to buy its rose products of perfume, rose water, oil, and cosmetic products. From one of Morocco’s favorite Imperial cities, we commence our climb over the High Atlas Mountains, reaching the Tizi n' Tichka Pass at a height of 2,260 meters above sea level. There will be stops along the way for coffee. The mountains are alive with the green of conifers and tall palms and the white and pink of oleanders set against mudbrick fortified villages set into the mountains. Before we arrive to Ouarzazate we stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou. We will take late lunch at one of the largest and most famous caravans of all Morocco. Here you can make purchases of arts and crafts, jewellery, rugs, furniture and antiques brought in directly from the artisans themselves. The history and culture can be told in every piece lovingly sourced and exhibited here. Our host is a charismatic story-teller and you will enjoy his theatre. The Ouarzazate area is called the Hollywood of Morocco. Films such as Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Living Daylights (1987), The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), The Mummy (1999), Gladiator (2000), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Kundun (1997), Legionnaire (1998), Hanna (2011),The Hills Have Eyes (2006), and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011) were shot in studios here, as was part of the TV series Game of Thrones. We will make a visit. More recently, the area of Ouarzazate is known for one of the largest solar power stations, created by the Arab League. We pass by it on our way to stay at our accommodation - a typical Berber hotel.

  • Day 2

Today, after breakfast our day is filled with breath-taking scenery as we pass through the famous Boumalnedades, visiting the Dades Gorges, the Dades Valley, and Todra Gorge. There will be time to walk in the valley of Todra; and afterwards, lunch on top of the canyon. We will visit a Berber family who live in the stunning caves of the Atlas Mountains: then, onto the desert, to catch a sunset. On the way into SAHARA LUXURY CAMPS, if you are lucky, you’ll spot an oasis or perhaps a desert fox. Camels will lead the way to our camp where we will dine in the light of the open fire, so you don’t miss a second of the spectacle of a night desert sky. After dinner, before you sink into the comfort of your five star luxury accommodation, in your individually-styled tent, why not reach out and touch the Milky Way and see how many star formations you can name.

  • Day 3

We’ll wake you early to see the sun rising, as it paints its exuberance across a vast sky dancing between and behind a sea of sand waves. This scene has inspired writers and photographers for centuries. Now it's your turn to be inspired and mesmerized. Have your cameras ready. The chaos of the world ends in the desert! This is where you'll find your peace and quiet, realign your chakras, and be one with your universe. We encourage those who love yoga, to bring yoga mats. Or, for those who meditate, the stillness of your environment will be music to your ears. After your hearty breakfast, we wave goodbye to our warm and friendly SAHARA LUXURY CAMPS staff. With the enormous dunes of Erg Chebbi at our backs we head to the village of Khamlia. This black village was once a place for the trade of black slaves. They will entertain us with their famous local music, dancing and we will be served refreshing Moroccan tea before we set off for Midlet, passing over the mountains of the Middle Atlas, stopping at Midlet for lunch before arriving to the scents and sounds of a chaotic, ancient city with one of the oldest Medina’s in the world, and the world’s oldest library built and restored by two talented Muslim women, in 859. The sun, setting on the rooftops of this ancient civilisation, embracing modern communication turns the old city into a skyline of satellites. It will both amuse and astound you. We will deliver you to your accommodation or to the airport.
